Director & head coach:
Dan Gore
As a family man, and father of 3 girls, Dan has spent time training alongside each of his daughters, and wife.
With over 25 years teaching and coaching experience, Dan is exceptional at engaging individuals and explaining techniques and concepts in a way that each client understands, and can implement.
He is a qualified teacher, personal trainer, nutritionist, and lifecoach, with a diverse life experience enabling him to tailor each programme with precision to suit each client, or business.
Dan is also a director of a security firm, providing ample crossover of skills.
Director & assistant coach:
Jim Love
Jim is a 47 year old engineer and father of 2 boys. Jim has trained Brazilian Jiu-jitsu previously, as well as kickboxing in his past. Jim currently coaches the fundamentals, to our kids class.
Self-defence is a family affair for Jim, and both his sons also train at the academy. Jim is a huge advocate, of our young people, learning to defend themselves, if required. Jim spends many hours on the mats, sparring and learning.
Self development is a huge part of Self-defence, dealing with pressure, overcoming personal fears and gaining fitness. Jim's personal favourites include gi chokes and avoiding Rachel's wrist locks.

Rachel Green
Rachel is a sixty-two-year-old artist and writer who has trained in self-defence and jiu-jitsu for around fifteen years, before which she trained in rapier, sword, iaido and staff. She is well versed in self-defence and specialises in wrist, ankle and joint locks, the better to disable an attacker since she’s too slow to run away.
She will expound on the merits of self-defence, and actively encourages those who live in fear of violence, either at home or on the streets, to train with her.
She was assigned male at birth and transitioned to female in the mid-1990s.
At Elemental Academy, she is proud to be assistant coach and ad-hoc supervisor for skills training and sparring supervision. She calls being at the Academy her ‘happy place.’
